Back to Normal

Kids are back in school...husband is back to working again... Things are starting to feel "normal" and it's nice. Somehow, though, September snuck in on me, this summer seemed to go by pretty fast.

Steve is immersing himself into learning the ropes of his job, working some longer hours but finally saying it's been fun. Such a relief after the the last nightmare job he endured. After a year off work, it's strange not to be able to call him when I want, to have him do last minute little things around the house, etc., because he's at work. But no complaining here!

Our fall schedule is shaping up quickly. I'm taking this week off for some at-home R&R. Mostly I'll be keeping my house up, making real dinners, and hanging a lot with family. Sometimes these kinds of vacations are the best!

We have a few things planned between now and Thanksgiving, one of them being we'll head to Monterey with Josh and Devon in November for a half (?) marathon that Josh is doing.

Then after Christmas we leave (on Steve's birthday!) for Florida to set sail on a 5-night Disney cruise. We got a killer deal that I stumbled on and it will be our first time having an inside cabin (unless Disney were to surprise us with an upgrade...yeah, we're not counting on that one). We're especially excited as 2 of the days are at Castaway Cay, Disney's private island in the Bahamas. We plan to spend those days snorkeling and enjoying some beach time. There's always the secret hope that at least some of our kids/grandchildren jump on board (no pun intended), but I'm doubtful that will happen. But if I think positive... =)

Steve and I have still been hitting the weight control and exercise trail. Steve's lost all his weight and is at a great place both in weight and fitness. On top of that, his cancer numbers were great at his last visit and we hold hope that it will remain that way for a long time to come. I am about 1/2 to 2/3 done with my weight loss - not sure where I want to end it yet. But I have really enjoyed getting back into cycling again - even if on a moderate level.

All in all, God's blessed us and we feel like we're coming somewhat full circle right now. I'm looking forward to my favorite season, fall, which is just around the corner!

Look at this - a whole post and no grandchildren updates! Next time...
