A Few Of My Favorite Things to Remember

A few things from the past few months that I want to remember for the future, so I'll memorialize them in my blog. These are from times I've spent with grandchildren, the funniest people I know. ;)

Emily: Can I have some hot tea with honey? (She wasn't feeling well.)
Me: Sure, would you like milk in it too?
Emily: Could I still have honey if I have milk?
Me: Yes, you can have tea, honey AND milk.
Emily: Sure!
She drank the tea and brought me her empty cup.
Emily: That was really good, could you give me the recipe??
Me: Uhhhh, sure! Water, a tea bag, milk and honey?
Me: (Laughing on the inside.)

If Ally gets bored at our house, she always starts to ask when mommy is coming, and if Jamie is on her way to my house to get her. I always ask her if she's bored at my house and ready to go home. She always nods yes, then always says, "I wish I could spend the night here tonight!" Huh? Those things just don't go together, yet the conversation always goes this way.

Recently I was taking Devon with me after church and, as I got into the driver's seat, I hit my kneecap which was so painful I could barely breathe for a minute. Devon asked me what was wrong so I told him what I'd done and that it really hurt. He looked very sympathetic and said, "Oh. When that happens to me, I just handle it." Well, all-rightey then, I guess I just need to handle it. ;)

When spending the night with us, the first child up has some nice alone time with me (like at 6:00 a.m., good thing I like mornings). Rylee was first up with me recently and we were sitting in my chair together, watching cartoons. Rylee is our super lovey one, Jamie says she feels her love language is touch and words of affirmation and I have to agree. Rylee looked up at me, stroked my face lovingly and said (and I quote), "You have the biggest mouth in the whole family. And the biggest tummy. I love you Nana." Oh my word, I couldn't stop laughing and the only reason I wasn't totally offended was she was, in her 4-year old mind, trying to be loving and compliment me. Seriously, she says outrageous things like that when she is trying to give an amazing compliment and I guess she thought that did it for me. Problem is, I probably have one of the smallest mouths in the family, but she was probably spot-on with the tummy comment, lol.

I guess I found some fun things for all the grandkids, except Nate. He's talking so well for barely two years old, but isn't telling me the stories and cute stuff yet. But I love, love how he sings with the kid's worship CD's in the car, and sings with anything that catches his attention. Like the other day when Big Bang Theory was on and he heard the "Soft Kitty" song - he sang right along with Sheldon and Penny, hilarious! (Kind of like his Uncle Josh who, at this age, belted out Budweiser songs from commercials on TV while we were grocery shopping, ha!) Nate gives the biggest, tightest hugs these days, and is getting to be super lovey lately. As my (probable) last grandchild, I'm enjoying those toddler hugs and all that goes along with it.

You're smart to write these down. I enjoyed reading them too! :)

They are so amazing! I love that you write them in the blog! Their little personalities just shine through in their comments, don't they? So fun!

I love Devon's comment about your knee injury. Especially because I've seen this kid bump his knee or another part of his body and I'm pretty sure that isn't his reaction!
